CrossFit Open Workout #1

This is a post I wrote for Back Alley Fitness on Mar 18th:

We’re really excited that Aaron is competing in the CrossFit Games Open over the next 6 weeks!

What is the CrossFit Games? You can go here to check it out. It’s what Aaron has been working up to since he was on deployment last summer.

The Open consists of a series of six workouts that are performed over six weeks, one workout per week. Anyone and everyone can participate in the Open. To officially compete you either have to a) complete you workout at an authorized affiliate or b) submit a video of yourself completing the workout.

The top 60 Men and Women from the Open from each region will participate at Regionals (June 17-19 for Southern California). Then, the top 3 Men and Women from each Region will participate at the CrossFit Games at the Home Depot Center on July 29-31.

Aaron is competing in the Open by completing his workouts at one of our local CrossFit affiliates in Pacific Beach, CrossFit PB.

The workouts are supposed to be announced each week at 5:00pm PST, but I think the 20,000 people participating couldn’t wait to get started and crashed the website. So we didn’t find out what the workout was until Wednesday morning. Aaron called me at about 1:00pm that afternoon and told me he was going to start his workout soon. I ran over to PB and was able to watch him!

Next week, Aaron said he would give me more of a heads-up of when he was going to be starting. I only had two-minutes of video left on my memory card when I got to the gym on Wednesday, so I filmed his first and last minute of the workout. Next week I hope to show you all the whole thing!

10 min, as many rounds as possible (AMRAP) of:
30 Double-unders
15 Power snatches
